ESTABLISHMENT OF THE COMMISSIONER FOR INMATES’ WELFARE AND DEVELOPMENT

• An independent office responsible for the promotion and protection of inmates’ rights;
• Revises all policies issued by the Agency and puts forward necessary recommendations to safeguard or improve inmates’ rights whilst facilitating their rehabilitation;
• Carries out regular inspections in the Corradino Correctional Facility, to ensure that the provisions of the Prisons Act are being adhered to.
