Following the issuing of the tenth call for project proposals under the Reception/Asylum National Objective of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) by the Managing Authority (MA), the Ministry for Home Affairs, Security, Reforms, and Equality (MHSR) has embarked on a project named, ‘Provision of Material Aid and Support Services to Assist Asylum Seekers’.

The Agency for the Welfare of Asylum Seekers (AWAS) a partner in the project, belongs to MHSR and they operate the project in different Centres by providing eligible material aid and services through the project components listed hereunder;

Eligible Components

  • Distribution of Food (breakfast, lunch, and dinner)
  • Medical services
  • Support services ranging from the services of coordinators, social workers, and support workers.
  • Per diem paid to Asylum Seekers*.

Project Objectives

  • To provide continuous support for activities that are carried out on a daily basis which include the distribution of food and the provision of medical services;
  • To support asylum seekers, psychologically and emotionally with the help of social workers and support workers (especially to those who will be found to suffer from trauma following their journey).

Duration of the Project

Start date of the implementation of the project: January 2014

End date of the project: December 2023

The total eligible cost of this project amounts to €8,480,420.48 (of which 75% amount to €6,360,315.36 are EU Funds and 25% amounting to €2,120,105.12 are National Funds).

* Per diem paid to Asylum Seekers as per Reception of Asylum Seekers Subsidiary Legislation 420.06 Reception of Asylum Seekers Regulations amended by: L.N. 417 of 2015.
